Curriculum

 

1. What is the school curriculum?

    Our internationalized curriculum is comprehensive and designed to provide a well-rounded education.

  • English – UK National Curriculum

  • Math – Hong Kong Curriculum with Singapore Methodologies

  • Chinese – Hong Kong Curriculum (Putonghua and traditional characters)

  • ICT and STEAM, PSHE, PE, Music, Art – School-based Curriculum with reference to the UK National Curriculum

 

2. What is the language of instruction? 

All subjects are taught in English, except for Chinese, where Putonghua is the medium of language.

 

3. How is your STEAM curriculum different from other schools? 

Our school-based STEAM curriculum is science-led. We use the Scientific Investigation approach to learn the science concepts.Students apply the concepts together with their skills in math, art, technology, and engineering in the form of projects.

 

4. Do you offer ECA (Extra-curricular Activities) and ASA (After-school Activities)

Each week, we have two 45-minute sessions of ECA during curriculum time. These sessions are compulsory and included in the tuition fees. We offer a holistic after-school programme aiming to extend and enrich students’ learning, spark their interest, and build talents.

The after-school activities (ASA) are optional and offered 4 days a week with the aim of widening students’ learning experiences. The categories include STEAM, ICT, sports, performing arts, and team training.  Some examples of the courses offered are: Coding, Robotics, Soccer, Swimming, Swim Team Training, Athletics, Choir, Pop Dance, Jazz Drums, Rope skipping, and Drama.

 

Students

 

1. What is the teacher-student ratio? 

Our current teacher-student ratio is 1 to 8.

 

2. Will you have an upper primary and secondary school programme? 

Our primary school goes up to Year 6, and we will be expanding our programme from Year 7 up to Year 9 at Anchors Academy. We have begun the process of applying to the Education Bureau for opening Year 7 to Year 9.

 

Admissions information

 

1. What are the eligibility criteria?

Children who have the right of abode in Hong Kong are eligible to apply for admission. Please refer to our admission policy on the school website: https://www.anchorsacademy.edu.hk/en/content.php?wid=75

 

All K3 graduates of Anchors Academy Affiliated International Kindergarten are guaranteed a place in Year 1 at Anchors Academy. K3 graduates of Anchors Group of Kindergarten (Main Branch, Constellation Cove, and Fanling campuses) have admission priority to Anchors Academy Year 1.

 

2. My child does not have a permanent Hong Kong Identity Card. Is he/she eligible to apply to the school?

Either one of the parents is required to have a Hong Kong Identity card for their child to be eligible for application. The child also requires a visa or entry permit to Hong Kong.

 

3. What is the application/ admission timeline? 

Applications are currently accepted on a rolling admission system.Parents can apply throughout the year and students are admitted in a year level based on their age and the availability of places. 4. How much is the school fee? 

The annual school fee for 2025-26 is HK$154,000, to be paid by 10 instalments. Please refer to the latest admissions policy on our website: https://www.anchorsacademy.edu.hk/en/content.php?wid=75 for more details.

 

Parents are also required to pay a capital levy. The annual capital levy for 2025-26 is HK$24,000, to be paid by 10 instalments. Apart from the school fees and capital levy, there are other miscellaneous expenses such as books and uniforms. Lunch and the school bus are optional.

 

5. What is a capital levy? 

Anchors Academy is a private school that does not receive any capital grant, operating funds, or financial support from the government of Hong Kong. The Capital Levy is established to finance the construction, renovation, and enhancement of campus facilities.

 

6. What is the age for Year 1 admission? 

Year 1 students should turn six by December of the school year.

 

7. Do you offer scholarships? 

We have a Scholarship scheme. Scholarship recipients are awarded a 50% school fee remission for their first year at Anchors Academy.They may reapply and undergo a reassessment process each year up to Year 6. The scholarship is open for application in May to children who have a place reserved at Anchors Academy.Results will be announced in June.

 

8. Can we visit the school?

General

 

1. What are the school hours? 

The school hours are from 8:25 am to 3:25 pm. Students start with a 25-minute lesson in the morning (phonics, spelling, reading, etc.) followed by six 45-minute lessons each day.Students who participate in ASA (after-school activities, optional) may stay until 4:30 or 5:00 pm.

 

2. Where do your teachers come from? 

Our Class Teachers are native English speakers, mostly trained in the UK. Our specialists (PE, Chinese, Music, STEAM, ICT) are proficient in English and Chinese. They are experienced teachers who have worked in other international or private schools in Hong Kong or overseas.

 

3. What are your school facilities? 

We are proud of our state-of-the-art campus, well-equipped with facilities such as an Auditorium, an indoor swimming pool, and an Innovation Lab.For outdoor space, we have a basketball court, a soccer pitch, a running track, and a badminton court.

 

4. Are there school bus services? 

We currently have bus lines mainly serving the northern district, covering areas such as Yuen Long, Sheung Shui, and Tuen Mun.  More school bus lines can be offered depending on demand.

 

5. Does the school provide school lunch?

Lunch can be ordered through the school’s catering supplier. Parents can also choose to bring in lunch for their child.
