1. What is the curriculum offered at Anchors Academy Affiliated International Kindergarten cum Nursery?

The kindergarten adopts the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum with a thematic approach and the methodology of“Learning through Play”. Great emphasis is also put on STEAM and Innovation. The Early Years Foundation Stage promotes seven areas of learning and development for very young learners, including: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Literacy and Numeracy, Physical Development, Understanding the World, and Expressive Art and Design. Through our curriculum, we aim to inspire our early learners with the confidence and skills needed for a strong foundation to begin their journey as enthusiastic, life-long learners. 

 

2. At which class level is the STEAM curriculum offered?

All level of classes beginning with Pre-Nursery class will have regular STEAM lessons. Students from Pre-Nursery to K3 will have the opportunity to enjoy hands-on experiences with the STEAM Wall and visit the Innovation Lab at school, specifically designed for STEAM experience.

 

3. What is the language program offered by the kindergarten?   

The kindergarten offers two bilingual Streams for students: International Stream (English/Mandarin) and Local Stream (English/Cantonese).Both the Streams include a third language which is French.

   

 

Students

 

1. What is the teacher to student ratio?        

The kindergarten currently offers a teacher to student ratio of 1:8. The class size is up to 21 students per class for each AM and PM session.

 

2. Does the Kindergarten offer whole day classes? 

Pre-Nursery and K1 classes are only offered as half day (AM and PM sessions).Both half day and full day classes are offered at K2 and K3 levels.

 

 

Admissions Information

 

1. What is the eligibility criteria? 

Children who have the right of abode in Hong Kong are eligible to apply for the kindergarten. Please refer to our admission policy here

 

2. My child does not have a permanent Hong Kong Identity Card. Is he/she eligible for applying for the school?

Either one of the parents is required to have a Hong Kong Identity card for their child to be eligible for application.

The child also requires a visa or entry permit to Hong Kong.

 

3. What is the application/ admission timeline? 

Applications are currently accepted on a rolling admission system.Parents can apply throughout the year and students are admitted in a chosen class level based on availability of space. Please refer to our admission policy here for more details.

 

4. What is the age of admission for Pre-Nursery (PN) Class?

Students can be enrolled into Pre-Nursery Class (PN) throughout the year, when they turn 2 years old.

 

5. What are the school fees and are there any additional fees besides the school fees?

 

Pre-Nursery and K1 classes are offered as half day (AM and PM sessions). Both half day and full day classes are offered at K2 and K3 levels. Please refer to the admissions policy here for this year’s school fees. Parents are also required to pay an Annual Capital Levy (subject to EDB approval). Apart from the school fees and capital levy, there are other miscellaneous expenses such as books and uniforms.

 

6. Does the school offer priority admission?

Priority admissions are offered to siblings of current students of Anchors Academy Affiliated International Kindergarten cum Nursery, and current students of other Anchors Kindergartens under Anchors International Education Group.

7. Does the school guarantee a place for students from Anchors Academy Affiliated International Kindergarten to Anchors Academy Primary School?

 

Graduates from Anchors Academy Affiliated International Kindergarten are guaranteed a place into Anchors Academy Primary School.

8. How can parents book a tour of the school?

 

All parents are encouraged to visit the school before enrollment. General

 

1. What are the school hours?

The half day (AM) school hours are from 9:00am to 12:00noon and (PM) school hours are 1:30pm to 4:30pm. For full day session, school hours are from 9:00am to 4:30pm.

 

2. How many of each class levels are there? 

There are a total of 16 classrooms in the kindergarten, accommodating 4 classes of each level from Pre-Nursery to K3. 

 

3. Where do your teachers come from?

All our teachers and educational assistants are qualified, holding ECE (Early childhood education) qualifications and are experienced in the field. Our teachers come from a diverse background bringing in their specialty in early years.

 

4. What are your school facilities?

The kindergarten consists of 16 spacious, bright and airy classrooms and offers the following state-of-the-art facilities:

• An amazing Innovation lab

• A hands-on Steam Wall

• A fully equipped reading corner

• Stimulating indoor and outdoor play areas

• Specially designed Art room, Music and movement room and Computer room

• A heated swimming pool

• An organic garden

 

5. Does the school provide snacks and is there a cost?

The school will not provide snacks for students.Parents are requested to send in healthy snacks with their child every day. 

 

6. Does the school provide lunch for the full day students?

Lunch can be ordered through the school’s catering supplier. Parents can also choose to bring in lunch for their child.

 

7. Does the school offer school bus services?

We offer school bus service to and from Anchors Academy serving students from across the New Territories area.  More school bus service will be offered depending on demand, location and availability of space.
