STEAM & Innovation

At Anchors Academy, we believe in fostering creativity, exploration and problem-solving skills in our students from an early age. Our STEAM education programme begins with the Pre-Nursery class and is designed to be engaging and age-appropriate. The programme includes the following components:

Science

• Hands-on science activities that allow students to observe and experiment with the natural world

• Exploration of plants, animals, weather and seasons

• Cooking activities as a means to learn about science

Technology

• Introduction of technology in a developmentally appropriate manner

• Use of interactive technology methods such as tablets or interactive whiteboards

• Introduction to basic coding concepts and technology tools

Engineering

• Opportunities to design and build structures using a variety of materials such as blocks and cardboard boxes

• Exploration of engineering concepts such as balance, structure and stability

Arts

• Encouragement of creativity and experimentation
• Open-ended art activities such as painting, drawing or collage-making
• Use of recycled materials to design and build structures

Mathematics

• Development of early maths skills through activities such as counting, sorting and measuring
• Opportunities to count and sort objects by size, shape and colour
• Use of non-standard units such as blocks or hands to measure objects
