STEAM & Innovation
At Anchors Academy, we believe in fostering creativity, exploration and problem-solving skills in our students from an early age. Our STEAM education programme begins with the Pre-Nursery class and is designed to be engaging and age-appropriate. The programme includes the following components:
Science
Hands-on science activities that allow students to observe and experiment with the natural world
Exploration of plants, animals, weather and seasons
Cooking activities as a means to learn about science
Technology
Introduction of technology in a developmentally appropriate manner
Use of interactive technology methods such as tablets or interactive whiteboards
Introduction to basic coding concepts and technology tools
Engineering
Opportunities to design and build structures using a variety of materials such as blocks and cardboard boxes
Exploration of engineering concepts such as balance, structure and stability
Arts
Encouragement of creativity and experimentation
Open-ended art activities such as painting, drawing or collage-making
Use of recycled materials to design and build structures
Mathematics
Development of early maths skills through activities such as counting, sorting and measuring
Opportunities to count and sort objects by size, shape and colour
Use of non-standard units such as blocks or hands to measure objects
